Sunday, December 15 on The Mulberry Tree

Hello, This Sunday, December 15 on The Mulberry Tree, it’s my personal tribute to my best friend and songwriting compadre Liz...Elizabeth Anderson Dillon. She entered the great beyond November 3. I poured my guts into producing and recording the program...powered through how raw I felt. But it was hands down the most fitting and loving acknowledgement of her life I could think of, and was capable of creating. When I finished recording the last words, as I sat in the studio and reached in my purse to pull out my car keys, a feather fell to the ground. Had it been in my purse?? Where did it come from?? With Liz, we always talked birds. Always. We wrote and sang songs about birds. We imitated bird sounds out on her deck and waited for replies. Then laughed until we hurt. I went straight home from KSMU that day and wrote a song....”Feather”....dedicated to Liz’s daughter Cody. Thanks for taking the time to read my heart. You know, to be able to utilize the magic of radio waves to share Liz’s memory with you is so very awesome. With that, I have a request: share this post far and wide. Let’s form the biggest circle of friendship and love you can imagine for Liz. Let’s acknowledge how Liz helped shape the Springfield music community with her songwriting talents and a great deal of humility. If you’ve heard the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, you’ve heard Liz and her songs. Let’s honor and acknowledge her, and send her the very best of our positive energy. She will be with us this Sunday evening. Celebrate her life with me!
