From the recording 10th & Grand

Lyrics

10TH & GRAND

Second floor, I don’t live there anymore
But I still know that place like the back of my hand
It was ’83 the first time I turned the key
To the lock of my door at 10th & Grand

Sights and sounds of the city all around
I still found a way to make music sweet
Those ten-foot ceilings sure caught a lot of feelings
And bounced them back to the hardwood floors
Where I tapped my feet

CHORUS:
Years ago, I didn’t know
At the time I didn’t understand
But with open eyes I’ve come to realize
My music filled my soul at 10th & Grand

The man below, well little did I know
He’d never heard a sound all of his life
But in his own way he heard the songs I’d play
Because they put a smile on the face of his wife

And the family up above fought hard times and love
I’m sure glad my walls hid the words they’d say
‘Cause sometimes they would fight morning, noon and night
But it got quiet as a church when I’d play

Years ago, I didn’t know
At the time I didn’t understand
But with open eyes I’ve come to realize
My music touched the souls at 10th & Grand

Second floor, I don’t live there anymore
But I still know that place like the back of my hand
It was ’83 the first time I turned the key
To the lock of my door at 10th & Grand
