July 22 on the Mulberry Tree

Hi everyone! No change on the lack of rain. We're dry as a bone. I had to post a sign in my yard last Monday and had to use an electric drill to get holes in the ground, then put the garden hose down the holes to soak in. As John Prine said in song, "it's just a hard way to go." IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember, The Mulberry Tree will air at 8 p.m. CST instead of 10 p.m. on its regular day (Sunday) as NPR makes a temporary scheduling change. The Mulberry Tree returns to it's regular 10 p.m. time slot on Sunday, August 12, 2012. I hope you were able to tune in last Sunday for my tribute to Levon Helm. The show was a great success and I was honored to be able to send out that good energy in memory of a wonderful person. Last Saturday would have been Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday! In honor of his music, some time this fall I will air an hour-long show to give you what I hope to be a very enjoyable sampling of Woody's contributions to folk music. This Sunday's Mulberry Tree will feature a variety of music, both new and slightly used. :) Here is a list of artists whose music will be on the show: Civil Wars (2 tracks) Johnny Cash with Bob Dylan Doc Watson Kate McGarrigle with Martha and Rufus Wainwright Kate & Anna McGarrigle, with Loudin and Rufus Wainwright Rufus Wainwright Bonnie Raitt (2 tracks) James Taylor (who visited Springfield this past Tuesday) Joni Mitchell Karen Savoca Gillian Welch Walela - Rita & Priscilla Coolidge, Laura Saterfield FCC regulations prohibit the posting of full playlists prior to airtime, so that is why I am only able to let you know the names of featured musicians in advance. I will try to do for you every week. You can view Mulberry Tree playlists in their entirety after the show is over by going to this link: http://ksmu.org/show/mulberry-tree The Mulberry Tree airs on KSMU 91.1 FM, Springfield Missouri's NPR affiliate station, and also at the following locations: Branson - 90.5, West Plains - 90.3, Mountain Grove - 88.7, Joplin - 98.9 and Neosho - 103.7. AND we also stream live at www.ksmu.org. Meet you on the airwaves! Emily
