Hello,
Finally, this Sunday, August 2 on The Mulberry Tree, it's a brand new program following several months of encores. Though I've really enjoyed combing through the archives and finding older programs to repeat, it brought me a lot of joy to put together a new playlist. While I was putting the show together, I thought of messages and sentiments I wanted to share, considering what we have all been challenged with these past months. That lead me to choose the songs I did, with you in mind, offering encouragement and comfort through the voices of musicians who had the same concept in mind.
Please join me and these wonderful guests around the tree this Sunday. The list includes John Prine, who passed in April from Covid 19. Millions of hearts broke when John crossed over, but in sharing with you his video "When I Get to Heaven" with you, I think you'll see that he set it up nicely to lighten our hearts after his departure one day. Enjoy the video, recorded live at Austin City Limits, and smile nice and wide for John. By the way, a special shout out to Jason Wilber, John Prine's guitarist, for his dedication to and affection for John all these years. Jason is a gifted songwriter, as well, and has released several collections of his music. I have featured Jason on The Mulberry Tree in the past, and do so again in the future, so keep your ears open for that, and visit jasonwilber.com any time. Also, nice job on the kazoo in the video, Jason!
